Carpathian Adventure 2010

March 6th, 2010 No comments

Period: August 11-15, 2010
Place: Calimani and Gurghiului Mountains
Base camp: Sovata

Carpathian Adventure is a classic, 3-day adventure race meant to bring people together to be challenged in numerous outdoor disciplines and enjoy the natural beauty and wilderness of Romania.

We all love adventure and challenge!
We often ask ourselves: What are our own limits? What are we capable of? How could we manage in extreme conditions?
Carpathian Adventure, the race organised by Outward Bound Romania is about these feelings.

Pushing the Limits
Adventure racing is not so much a physical undertaking – although it certainly takes your lungs, legs and ligaments to their limits – as it is a mental, emotional and even spiritual battle.

It is about the team
It is about pushing yourself beyond your comfort-zone. It is about eliminating selfishness in order to work for the benefit of the team. It is about doing things right and maintaining your strength together. Those who finish the race are masters of the following disciplines: backpacking, mountain biking, abseiling, caving, navigation, and river craft.

Teams
Each team should be made up of 4 members, both men and women (there should be at least one member of the opposite sex on each team). Participants must be at least 18 (we ask minors for understanding and we hope to see them on future editions of Carpathian Adventure). There is no upper age limit. Every participant will be medically examined before the competition.

Livigno Free Heel Fest

March 4th, 2010 No comments

Weird, extraordinary, unpredictable, rich Seventies.

Free your heels and it’s immediately another way to ski. Beyond the rules, beyond the prepared slopes, at the search of yourself in the winter mountains. Free Heel Fest is a wonderful event for meeting all those who share the same passion. Rendezvous, competitions, sport, parties, music: a week for discovering the joys of the alternative way of skiing.

Free HeelThe theme of this edition is the 70’s, with its protests and oil crisis, power struggles and Concorde, young protests and music… punk gets born, the music of the Sex Pistols and of the Ramones gets known worldwide, with the one of the Clash and the poetic music by Patty Smith. It’s the time of the discos and in 1977 of the “Saturday night fever”, film showing the emancipation of the world in that period of time. In San Francisco psychedelic is in fashion, arts, music. But also the years of the movement of the free radios and the Pope Giovanni Paolo II signs the success of the first rock star pope of history.

Young people wear shirts with very long spikes; in the houses many have carpet and plastic phones in fluo colors and strange shapes. Color TV affirms itself and people start to travel, who can afford it with the Giulietta, the most dreamed car of Alfa Romeo, the others in R4, the family car of the Renault. Boeings 747 fly in the sky and the Space Shuttle starts his first futuristic flights.

Weird, extraordinary, unpredictable, rich Seventies. Now it’s time for the free heel people to reinterpret with all the imagination an era that is behind us but which never ceases to fascinate us. Always in the spirit of the Free Heel world.
