Serbia Open 2010This year Serbian National Championship in XC (Cross Country) will be held in Nis, Serbia from 11 to 15 of July. The competition will be organized by PG ClubDinamik from Nis/Niska Banja.

Paragliding club Dinamik is a young club that has many experienced pilots, who gathered in order to improve flying skills of the club members and future members, and to promote flying terrains of Nis, Niska Banja and Sicevo. The terrains are well known to some pilots that flew there in PWC 2005(Sicevo) and in European Paragliding Championship 2008 (Niska Banja/Sicevo) and prePWC 2009 Serbia. The terrains consist of mainly mountainous and flatlands which makes them great XC potential.

In order for this competition to be successful, the organisers would like to gather as many as possible information which would help them to do the job without any common missouts. They would like to make an appeal to all the experienced pilots and people who have been included in any similar organizations, to let them know about the common flaws and possible mistakes. Any suggestions of this kind would really help them make this competition worth seeing.

Participation fee will be 80 euros.
Everyone is more than welcome to come. More info and registration at www.dinamik.rs.

The first event in the run up to the ‘Worlds’ in 2011 is the Pre-World competition which will be held from 10th July to 17th July 2010. The final registration will be on the evening of Saturday 10th July.
Piedrahita 2010
Daily Procedure
A briefing will be held at the HQ each competition day at 10am. This will include weather information and discussion and information regarding the previous task. Buses will leave for Peña Negra take off at 10.45am (transit time approx 30 minutes). There will be a task briefing at launch when all pilots are present. Launch Window Open will normally be between 12.30 and 2.30pm. Last landing time will be determined daily by the task committee.

Sign-in Sign-out
On every flying day there will be a sign-in list at take off. Pilots have to sign-in themselves if they fly on the day or not. Pilots who have not signed-in are considered as not having flown.

This means their score for the day will be zero. Pilots must confirm that they are safe after their landing by phone call or SMS to the HQ after landing (latest 15min after last landing time) and also must sign out the list at HQ on arrival back at Piedrahita.

Report Back and Download
On arrival at Piedrahita after retrieval, pilots must report back to the HQ to sign-out and to download their GPS. The last time acceptable for the Report back and Downloads will be determined each day by the task committee.

Pilots who fail to report back before the specified time will not be eligible to download and will score zero points for the day. Problems with the official retrieve may permit extension of the report back and download time.

Minimum Launchable Time
The minimum launchable time per pilot must be 2 minutes. The Peña Negra launch has 10 ‘launch slots’.
The Launch Director may close the launch for safety reasons and reopen it later.

Funny Crazy Cool Racing

Cursa TrasnitilorFUN, FUN, FUNdraising Event!
Rotary Club Brasov Citadel invites you to its third annual summer edition of „Cursa trasnitilor” – the downhill race with hand-made vehicles. The event takes place July 17, 2010, at Livada Postei in Brasov.

You don’t have to be rich or a super athlete or famous. All you need is to show up at the start line with a hilarious vehicle and have fun doing your show. Anybody is welcome. There is no age limit. Youngest participant so far was two and half years old on his little tricycle (with his mom running beside him, of course).

Participants can be either alone on their vehicle or form teams of at least two persons or as many as their vehicle can hold (or not) and can consist of family members, friends or representatives of a company. How the vehicles look like is completely up to the participants. The only rule is that it must have at least three wheels and no engine.

Prizes will go to: the craziest vehicle, the team with the best showmanship/costumes, and the best company vehicle.

This year’s summer edition (just like the winter edition in January) of „Cursa trasnitilor” is to raise funds for awarding classes in Brasov (City) with the best grade point average between the 5th and the 8th grade.

The idea is that the teacher should focus on students of all levels of learning in one class – the ones that are usually left behind as well as the more gifted ones, without boring either one of them. A good teacher knows how to encourage weaker students as well as good students to achieve better results thus being able to raise the average grades of all students. Simultaneously, this will encourage teamwork and a sense of community. The event want to show that everybody, no matter the social status or health condition, deserve a helping hand and a chance in life.
Summer 2009
The winning class will be sent to Germany to a summer camp specialized in teaching First Aid. The children will learn to recognize which situations call for First Aid and how to apply it.
At the end of the First Aid course, the children will receive a diploma which could represent an important step to continue in the medical field as a paramedic or even doctor.

Rotary Club Brasov Citadel is one of the 32,000 Rotary Clubs in more than 165 countries that carry out service projects in their local communities and abroad to address such issues as poverty, health, hunger, illiteracy, and the environment.
Rotary Club Brasov Citadel is an English speaking club consisting of expats and Romanians. It is also probably the youngest club in Romania with its members having an average age of approx. 35 years.
